BoomBoats is made by an independent developer in Greece. The short version: your progress lives on your own device and in your own iCloud, we never see who you are, and the only thing leaving the game is an anonymous count of how it is being used.

The launch list

If you submit your email on this site, we store that email address so we can send you a single message when BoomBoats is released, plus the occasional beta invite. We do not sell, rent or share it, and every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. Ask us to remove you at any time and it is gone the same day.

The list is held by Resend, our email provider, acting on our behalf.

Your progress

Your captain name, level, rank, badges, fleet, credits and match history are stored on your iPhone, inside the app. A copy is also written to your own iCloud saved game through Game Center — that copy sits in your Apple account, not in ours, and we cannot read it. Reading it back onto a second device is not offered yet, so for now deleting the app deletes your captain.

You can erase everything the game has kept at any time from Settings → Delete my data: the captain, the progress, the badges and the match history go immediately.

There is no account here

The app creates no account of its own — no sign-up, no password, no email address. Game Center signs you in with the account already on your iPhone, and what it shares with the game is what Apple gives it: your Game Center display name and player identifier, used to show your name, place you on the leaderboards and match you against someone. That is between you and Apple; see the Game Center privacy notice. Switch Game Center off and the whole game still plays, minus the battles against real people.

Online matches send your shots and your opponent's shots between the two devices through Game Center. There is no server of ours in the middle, and nothing about those matches is stored by us.

What the game measures

The app sends anonymous usage events — the app was launched, a screen was opened, a battle started, a battle finished and how it ended — to Google Analytics, so we can see which parts of the game are used and which are ignored. They are keyed to a random identifier the app generates on first launch and keeps on your device. That identifier is not your advertising ID, is not connected to your name, your Apple account or your Game Center profile, and is regenerated if you delete the app.

Nothing here is used to track you across other apps or websites, and none of it is sold or shared for advertising. There is no advertising in BoomBoats at all. See Google's privacy policy for how they process it on our behalf.

Purchases

There are none. The game has an in-game currency, Credits, which is won by playing and cannot be bought with money, so no payment details ever pass through the app.

This website

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Fonts and images are served from this domain, not from a third party. GitHub records standard server logs (including IP addresses) as part of serving the page — see the GitHub privacy statement.

Children

BoomBoats is suitable for all ages, but the launch list is not intended for children under 16. If you are under 16, please ask a parent before signing up.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@boomboats.com and we will handle it within 30 days. For the game itself there is usually nothing to hand over: we hold no name, no email and nothing that points back to you.
